Popup Preview- October 25, 2008

While we are working on a bunch of new additions for Myoats which will be introduced in next year, we would like to entice everybody with a cool popup feature. Now when you roll over the small design images, a medium sized preview will fade in.

 

Myoats 'Beta' - October 04, 2008

Hey everybody! We have added a "Beta" to the logo to reinforce its stage in development. Some people realize that Myoats is in it's beta phase, but we just need to make sure everyobody else knows. Yea, its a bummer, we love the logo by itself, but we will probably leave the word "beta" up there untill we launch the next version of Myoats.

 

Line Separation Issue - September 22, 2008

Now when you reload a design, it will look exactly as it did when you saved it. We have fixed the problem of lines being broken when a saved design is reloaded.

Technical Difficulties - August 09, 2008

Our site was down for about 3 hours on August 8, 2008 (from 4pm - 7pm EST) because our service providers messed up! And today our Recent Activity isn't showing up on the Home Page and Create Page for an unknown reason. You can see all recent activity on the Recent page.

We are going to shop around for a new provider again, because this is something that should not be occurring. This site is fairly new, and we are constantly learning how to cope with new issues. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Ranking Algorithm is Updating - August 2, 2008

Some of you might have noticed that the featured designs are being bumped off before or after the 48 hour time limit. Normally, the Featured designs don’t get bumped until 48 hours has passed, but for the past 3 days the amount of time has varied due to a restructuring of the ranking algorithm. The designs will show for 48 hours after tonight (8.02.08). Sorry for this, and next ones’ on me!

Color Changes - July 27, 2008

Hello folks!! We have decided to change the color from white to grey. We originally designed the background color of Myoats as a real dark gray because we assumed that most of the designs would have bright backgrounds. We were wrong. This lead us to change the background color to white. We wanted the designs to pop out more from the background. This works, but it seemed a little too bright, and it was hard for the eyes to pick up on some small faint details of some designs. So this has lead us to take the middle ground and use a not-too-dark, not-too-light gray background. We hope you enjoy, and keep up the great work!

New Features - June 7, 2008

First off, we would like to thank everyone who has made Myoats what it is. The Myoats Team is blown away by all the amazing work that shows up every day. We are excited to announce the launch of the newly updated Myoats site. After listening to your comments and feedback, we have added many of your suggestions. Here is what we have added:

Layout

We have made some cosmetic changes to the site. We want nothing to distract from the beautiful imagery that is displayed on Myoats, so we have simplified the design of the site. The layout of some pages has changed from a 2 column to a 3 column spread.

Tags

Add tags to your own tags to your designs.

Searching

Searching is more powerful and more efficient - Use the tags to search through your designs, or search through the Myoats database. You can also search for users based on their username or the title of their designs.

Profile

We have added a personal profile to your account. This page displays a quick view of a users most popular designs, their most recent activity, and some info about the user. See what your friends are doing - the Profile Page displays your friends’ Recent Activity and comments.

Mail

Now you can add friends. See the latest designs from your friends. You can view a matrix of your friends’ Most Recent designs by going to the “Friends” section under “My Account”.

Now you can add friends. See the latest designs from your friends. You can view a matrix of your friends’ Most Recent designs by going to the “Friends” section under “My Account”.

Edit Settings

Tell the world about yourself – Allow people to see where you are from, and display your personal or favorite sites in your profile. Define how much you want to show in your Profile - You can control how many of your Most Popular Designs, your Recent Designs, and your Friends’ Recent Activity are displayed in your profile.

Smoothing

Now you can make designs that have real smooth lines. The new Smooth Pencil Tool does the trick. When using the Smooth Pencil, drag points appear, which allow you to alter the current smoothed stroke. The drag points act as anchors for the stroke. When you drag these points, the geometry of the current stroke is altered.

Intensity

Have you ever made a design which doesn't stand out from the background enough? We have added an Intensity controller in the Create Engine, which allows you to change the vividness of the geometry in your design.
